We’re thrilled to announce that, thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, the Ovarian Cancer Institute (OCI) has surpassed our initial fundraising goal of $100,000—raising over $400,000 to propel our vital research forward. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the power of our community, and we extend a heartfelt thank you to all our sponsors, donors, and champions who have stepped up to make a difference. Your support is bringing hope and innovative solutions to the fight against ovarian cancer. This amount is more than twice the income that the Institute has ever received from one of its fundraising events and I due in no small measure to the efforts and contacts of our chief executive officer, Dr. Benedict Benigno.

As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, OCI is dedicated to developing a highly accurate diagnostic test for early-stage ovarian cancer and exploring more effective and less toxic treatment options. Our laboratories at Georgia Institute of Technology house researchers with expertise in fields such as biochemistry, bioinformatics, nanotechnology, and computer science. With this multidisciplinary approach, we are advancing groundbreaking projects that could transform the future of cancer diagnostics and treatment.

Surpassing our original goal by such a large margin underscores the critical importance of our work. Among our current initiatives, we are pioneering machine-learning algorithms to identify the most effective drug treatments for individual patients, advancing personalized medicine for ovarian cancer. We’re also developing RNA vector-based therapies that deliver chemotherapy drugs directly to cancer cells, allowing for higher doses with fewer toxic side effects.

Additionally, our team has created a microfluidic device that captures circulating cancer cells, allowing for immediate diagnosis of recurrence and rapid treatment adjustments based on RNA sequencing.

This level of research comes with significant costs, and reaching $400,000 is an incredible milestone. Yet, as we continue to break new ground, we also seek ongoing support to fuel these essential advancements. You can make an impact by creating your own fundraising page, sharing your story, and helping us reach new supporters. Every contribution brings us closer to achieving our mission.

Thank you to everyone who helped us exceed our $100,000 goal. With your support, OCI is moving closer to a future where ovarian cancer can be diagnosed early, treated precisely, and ultimately defeated.
